School Supply Roundup 2009 (Update #2)

As I mentioned before, I'm on a quest to see how much of my son's school supplies I can get for FREE with all of the great deals going on. This is a list of his current school supplies and where/when I think I can get them for free or, if not free, then super cheap. ;) I should note that I'm getting a late start and have missed several great sales in which some of these things were already free. :(

As of August 6th, we have 4 different school supply lists for my son's first year of Kindergarten. One came in the school packet at Kindergarten Roundup, the second one is the list of items included in the package you can buy at Kindergarten Roundup (also came in the school packet), the third is from the school's website, the fourth list I received at Registration 8/6. I just combined them and noted any differences.

Kindergarten School Supply List:

- 7/19-7/25 Target .88 - my Target was sold out of these and I didn't have time for a rain check :(

- 8/2 - 8/4 CVS: Caliber or CVS Brand (10ct) $.99 w/$.99 ECBs = FREE (limit 2) -- (rain check)

2 glue sticks
- 8/2 - 8/4 CVS: Caliber or CVS Brand (3pk) $.99 w/$.99 ECBs = FREE (limit 2)

4 bottles white glue (4oz.) (website says 2, school list says 3, pre-purchase pkg from school=4)
- 7/26 - 8/01 Walgreens: .39 each Elmer's brand (limit 6)
- OR 7/26-8/1 Staples: .25 each Elmer's brand (limit 2 per customer)
- Target .25 each seasonal pricing (Elmer's Brand)
- Walmart .25 each seasonal pricing (Elmer's Brand)

1 Water-based (washable) markers (8 count) (some lists said washable, some didn't)
- Target $1.79 each seasonal pricing (Roseart washable)

2 Boxes waxed crayons (24 count) (school list says 2 boxes of 16)
- Walmart $.25 seasonal pricing (Crayola brand 24 ct) - my Walmart was out of these :(
- Target $.27 seasonal pricing (Crayola brand 24 ct)

2 pocket folder (website says 1, Registration list says 1)
- 8/2 - 8/4 CVS: 2-Pocket Poly Folders (too fancy?) $.49 w/$.49 ECBs = FREE (limit 2)
- OR 7/19-7/25 (and 8-2 - 8/8) Walgreens: 9 cents each.
- OR 7/19-7/25 Office Depot $0.05 (limit 5)
- 7/19-7/25 Walgreens: 9 cents each. (Wags substituted these for the 2 pocket folders so I got 3 total at 9 cents each.)

1 folder with brads (on website list only)
- 7/26-8/1 Walgreens: 3/.59
- 7/19-7/25 (and 8-2 - 8/8) Walgreens: 9 cents each. (Wags substituted these for the 2 pocket folders so I got 3 total at 9 cents each.)

2 Spiral wide-ruled notebook (website says 1)
- 8/2 - 8/4 CVS: Caliber or CVS Brand $.99 w/$.99 ECBs = FREE (limit 2)
- Walmart $.15 each seasonal pricing

Scissors (sharp point)
- 8/2 - 8/4 CVS: Caliber or It's Academic $2.99 w/$2.99 ECBs = FREE (limit 2) -- (rain check)

Box of water-color paints with brush
- 7/26 - 8/1 Target 8ct $.50 (Roseart washable)

1 composition book (not on the school list, on website and pre-purchase pkg from school lists)
- 7/26 - 7/28 CVS: $.99 w/.99 ECBs = FREE

1 box “ziploc” type bags — quart or gallon size
- FREE after sale/coupons from Target in June (previously posted)

I updated this post with seasonal pricing on some items and any items that I purchased are in red.

Total spent so far: $6.64

Estimated final total: $8.43

NOTE: If CVS is sold out of their ECB deals when you get there, you can always ask for a rain check which will give you the sale price including ECBs! Walgreens (to my knowledge) does not give the Register Rewards with rain checks.
